Police renew calls for witnesses to A38 accident

Devon and Cornwall Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to a road traffic collision that happened on the A38 at Westlake near Ivybridge in March.

The dark-coloured Volvo left the Plymouth-bound carriageway between the Ivybridge offslip and Lee Mill.

Officers would like anyone who may be able to comment on the manner of driving of this car prior to the collision to contact them on 101, quoting log number 0631 of 220313.

The collision took place in poor weather at around 5.45 p.m. on Friday 22 March 2013 when a blue Volvo S60 left the road on its nearside via a lay-by. It continued through a fence and hedgerow before coming to rest some distance into a waterlogged field.

The front seat passenger of the car, a 76 year old man died at the scene.

The driver, a woman in her sixties, was conveyed to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth and released following treatment for minor injuries.

Both casualties are from Wiltshire.
