An exhibition featuring images by nine of the world‘s top photographers will be on display at the City Museum and Art Gallery for just ten more days.

‘Open for Business’ features images of contemporary British manufacturing and is the result of a project led by UK arts organisation Multistory and world-famous photographic co-operative Magnum Photos.

The images in the exhibition were taken at a variety of workplaces across the UK, from one-man businesses to FTSE 100 companies.

They aim to highlight the resilience and diversity of Britain’s manufacturing sector as well as demonstrate its capacity to foster both traditional, handmade crafts and modern, high tech automation.

Eleven of the companies featured in the exhibition are from the Plymouth area.

Bandvulc Tyres, Burts Potato Chips, Conway Stewart, Dartmoor Brewery, Princess Yachts, Spinnaker International, Summerskills Brewery, Tavy Ales, Tideford Organics, Vi-Spring and Westaways Sausages were all captured for the show by award-winning Magnum photographer Chris Steele-Perkins.

Open for Business will be on display until Thursday 12 March. Opening hours are 10am to 5.30pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am to 5pm on Saturdays. Admission is free.

More information about the exhibition can be found at www.plymouth.gov.uk/museumofb.
