This Bank Holiday weekend visitors to Saltram can get in touch with their wild side and enjoy an afternoon of family activities dedicated to 50 things to do before you’re 11¾ .

On Saturday 24 May Saltram will host activities across the park and garden, inviting families to get outdoors and closer to nature, with pond dipping, den building and cycle rides to name a few.

Between noon and 3pm visitors can take part in up to ten activities such as planting spinach or radish seeds in the garden, to then take home, watch them grow and eat them. The more adventurous families can bring their bikes and join an experienced leader who will guide them around Saltram or even as far as the Plym Valley. Other activities include geocaching, wild art, bird watching, campfire cooking, making mud pies and orienteering.

Rebecca Wickes, Visitor Experience and Marketing Officer, commented: “The 50 things campaign is a great way for children to reconnect with the outdoors. Saltram is the perfect place to work through the 50 things scrapbook and we’re looking forward to inviting families back to our open day again this year.”

The event is free to all, however garden admission applies to non-members taking part in the activities there. We ask for a £1 contribution towards the orienteering maps to help cover printing costs.
