The South West Mesothelioma Support Group will be holding two events in February to help raise awareness and funds for those affected by asbestos related cancer.

On Thursday 2nd February, 'Wally's Dance Party' will be holding an evening of Ballroom and Sequence Dancing at The Plymouth Guildhall. Doors open at 7.15pm with dancing from 8.00pm to 11.00pm.

Wally Wright who has organised the dance said, 'We are extremely grateful that the event has been kindly supported by the Lord Mayor of Plymouth Councillor Pauline Murphy and her consort Councillor Brian Vincent. We look forward to them attending what I anticipate will be a very enjoyable evening.'

Wally added, 'Dress code is smart casual. Those attending are welcome to bring their own nibbles, however, drinks will be available for purchase at the bar.'

On Friday 17th February, popular local band Jessica and the Rabbits will be following on from last April's hugely successful 'Music for Mesothelioma' fundraiser by holding a 'More Music for Mesothelioma' gig at The Duke of Cornwall Hotel in Plymouth from 7.30pm to 11.00pm.

Dean Cruickshanks, Head of the Asbestos Team at Wolferstans who have sponsored the event said, 'Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a fantastic evening of rock 'n' roll and old time soul whilst at the same time helping raise awareness of this dreadful disease that affects Plymouth and the South West so enormously.

Tickets for each event are £7.00 and available for purchase on the door. Further information can be obtained by contacting Wally Wright on 01752 601750.

The South West Mesothelioma Support group holds monthly meetings for those diagnosed or affected by Mesothelioma plus other asbestos related conditions. New members are welcome.
