The family of a patient who died have paid a visit to staff on the Planned Investigation Unit (PIU) and Hound Ward, to thank them for the excellent care received whilst in hospital.

Roma Banks, who passed in April 2015, spent a lot of time at Derriford Hospital and her husband, Tony Banks, and her daughters wanted to show their appreciation and present staff with two large cakes as a token.

Vicky Ashton, Junior Sister on the Planned Investigation Unit, said: “Roma had been coming to the Planned Investigation Unit regularly over the last five years for treatment and it was an absolute pleasure to care for her and her very attentive family.

“Roma and her family became part of PIU but sadly Roma’s condition worsened and she passed away. She really will be in our thoughts and all of the staff on PIU will remember her. I would like to thank her family for their kindness.”
