Celebrate Harry Potter Book Night

Plymouth libraries are joining schools, bookshops, libraries and community groups across the country in celebrating the first ever Harry Potter Book Night on Thursday 5 February.

Organised by Bloomsbury Children’s Books, the event is a chance for Harry Potter newbies and existing Muggles to share JK Rowling’s unforgettable stories and introduce the next generation of readers to the magic of Hogwarts.

Early evening celebrations are being held far and wide in honour of the boy wizard and libraries in Plymouth will be offering a host of magical crafts, games and activities, including sorting hat ceremonies, Diagon Alley treasure hunts, owl post and wizard quick draw challenges.

There will also be competitions, with wizarding books and chocolate frog prizes up for grabs and everyone is welcome to go along dressed as their favourite Harry Potter character.

The spellbinding sessions will be taking place on Thursday 5 February at the following libraries:

Central Library 4pm to 5.30pm
Crownhill Library 4pm to 5pm
Southway Library 4pm to 5pm
St Budeaux Library 4pm to 6pm

Harry Potter Book Night activities are suitable for five to 16-year-olds and parents and carers are welcome to attend with their children. All sessions are free but places are limited and booking is essential.
