Data revealed this week has shown a surge in sales of anti-anxiety blankets, ahead of what has been deemed as ‘September blues’ - with the looming Brexit deadline, changing weather, and back to studying worries, affecting sleep.

Commerce platform, Wowcher,  has shown a 226% month-on-month increase in sales of their weighted anxiety blankets in August. The trending products, which are said to help with anxiety and sleep disorders features durable glass beads designed to apply light pressure to your body. This releases serotonin, which helps to reduce feelings of stress and manage your sleep patterns.

This comes ahead of what has become known as ‘September anxiety’, with the end of the summer and worsening weather, as well as reports and experts explaining that Brexit-induced stress is on the rise; ever more relevant as the Brexit deadline and political uncertainty approaches.

The data also showed London is the UK city where the anti-anxiety products are most in demand, with 56% of the purchases being made, followed closely by Manchester then Glasgow.

Alexis Harrison, Head of Marketing at Wowcher, comments:

“It’s no surprise that we have seen a rise in sales of anxiety-related products in September- particularly for new and trending products that help alleviate stress and anxiousness. With the current political climate, and the end of Summer, Brits are looking for new and innovative methods to help relieve stress and anxiety."
