A stunning new approach to wellbeing has recently been introduced at Wishes near Crediton.

The innovative ‘spa menu’ offers a personalised choice of treatments and therapies based around the five Chinese elements; wood, water, earth, metal and fire.

Guests are firstly invited to complete a questionnaire to pinpoint which element they have a natural affinity with. Relevant products are then used during their chosen experiences, which can include a full spa experience with hot tub, plunge bool, barrel sauna and contemplation hut, with a fire pit and nature connection being added soon.

Dominic Jones from Wishes explains, “While some people will have a clear affinity, it’s also possible to mix and match from the menu, or even take part in a guided ‘journey’ of all five elements.

“For example, someone might start with a wood aromatherapy sauna experience, move to the fire pit for the fire connection, rest at the sacred stone circle representing earth, detox with a frankincense and gong cleanse for metal, and complete their journey with a cycle of hydrotherapy in the hot tub and plunge pool.”

There are many options to choose from, with tailored sessions from 30 minutes to the two-hour Prescription Spa Journey. The full day Diamond Elemental Escape includes an extra treat, participating in a cocktail masterclass before enjoying a hot tub session complete with a bottle of prosecco!

Therapies include massage, facials, body wraps and scrubs, plus Sekhem elemental balancing, a healing experience that improves self-connectivity and Sekhem crystal elemental balancing using crystals to bring balance.

As a bonus, the centre’s onsite bar restaurant Aquarius will be offering coordinating meal options for spa guests. “We’re finalising the ideas,” explains Dominic, “but ideas include a ‘water’ dish in the form of a really fresh salad with lots of cleansing lemon and ginger, whilst a ‘fire’ dish could be a spicy curry.”

Currently Wishes is the only spa in Devon to offer this particular range. Products are sourced from Elemental Herbology, a UK-based company that makes everything to order. The company’s ethos blends perfectly with Wishes, as it has the same commitment to supporting the environment, including using fully recyclable packaging and only making ethical and responsible skincare products.

For guests wanting to enjoy a longer retreat and wellbeing break, Wishes has onsite accommodation available with a choice of cosy cabins plus new ensuite eco cabins due to open in late April.
