Plymouth NHS Trust non-executive director to serve a further term

Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust has announced the reappointment of Mrs Margaret Schwarz to the Trust Board.

The NHS Trust Development Authority has reappointed Mrs Margaret Schwarz to serve a further term as a Non-Executive Director at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust for the period from 1 October 2013 to 30 September 2014.

Mrs Schwarz, who was first appointed to the Board in October 2005, has extensive global experience in financial services and risk management.

Mrs Schwarz, said: “I am very pleased to be reappointed for another year. It is an honour to be able to work with all colleagues at the Trust to deliver safe and effective healthcare to the people of the peninsula.”

Richard Crompton, Chairman of Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, added: “It is great news that Margaret has been reappointed to serve a further term as a Non-Executive Director. Margaret’s experience as a Non-Executive Director at Plymouth Hospitals Trust is extensive, and her continued commitment to the Trust and its patients will be immensely valuable in the year ahead.”

The Trust Board is made up of full-time Executive Directors who work for the hospital Trust and Non-Executive Directors, who receive a small remuneration for lending their skills and expertise to the organisation.

This appointment has been made by the NHS Trust Development Authority‘s Appointments Committee using powers delegated by the Secretary of State for Health. The Trust says that all Non-Executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan Recommendations, the Trust says it requires appointees' political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Mrs Schwarz holds no other ministerial appointments and has declared no political activity.

Mrs Schwarz will receive an annual remuneration of £6,157, this is the rate payable to NHS Trust Non-Executive Directors.
