Film: Brief Encounter (1945)

Brief Encounter is one of the greatest films of love found and love lost. In a cafe at a railway station, housewife Laura Jesson meets Dr. Alec Harvey. Although they are already married, they gradually fall in love with each other. They continue to meet every Thursday in the small cafe, although they know that their love is impossible.

Heart- warming and tragic, it is a film that continues to endure, depicting a doomed couple's illicit connection with affecting sensitivity and a pair of powerful performances. Often discussed and rarely seen on the big screen – it will leave a mark on your soul.

Introduced by Johnny Mains, a horror editor, author and historian. At heart, like all horror writers, Johnny is a romantic fool and has chosen to depart from his normal programme choices to select some of his favourite love stories.
