Team Hope have arranged ‘An Evening with Mark Hines & Debra Searle’ to be held at Marjons University in Plymouth on the 16th of December 2013 at 7pm.

Mark Hines

Mark Hines is an Ultra Endurance Adventure Racer, Academic and Writer. He is an

exercise physiologist and biomechanist who competes in the toughest ultra-endurance races in the world. He has raced in rainforests, across deserts, over mountains, and in the sub-Arctic and Arctic.

Mark also spends time conducting research in his labs, writing books on health, fitness and his adventures, and plotting that next big thing. He is currently looking for corporate sponsors to help fund a record-breaking expedition to the Geographic North Pole. Mark is planning to spend 2014 on races, adventures and expeditions in the UK, Europe, India and the Himalayas, before moving to the Yukon in 2015.

Debra Searle

Debra Searle MBE -  a professional adventurer, author and motivational speaker When Debra Searle and her then husband signed up for a 3000 mile rowing race across the Atlantic, they expected to complete it within 60 days. However, after just a few days at sea, Andrew developed an uncontrollable fear of the ocean and had to leave the boat.  Debra decided to continue alone. During her 111 days at sea, Debra battled loneliness, exhaustion, sharks and huge oil tankers, and tells the story of how she triumphed by using a few key strategies which helped her to stay motivated and achieve her ‘impossible’ goal.

What she had achieved by her mid 30′s is astonishing – she has been awarded a first class honours degree, launched two companies, won World Championship medals for GB, presented over 40 programmes for the BBC, had two books published, become the youngest ever trustee of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. In 2002 HM The Queen awarded Debra an MBE for her achievements.

A true inspiration who has been trusted as keynote speaker for many of the world’s top organisations such as IBM, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, UBS, Microsoft, VISA, Vodafone and Pfizer.

The timetable will be close to the following:

◾Mark Hines – Physiology, Nutrition and Injuries
