Match preview: Plymouth Argyle v Exeter City

Plymouth Argyle v Exeter City

League Two, Saturday 30th March, 1pm

Back in December it finished 1-1 at St James Park. Saturday lunchtime's return Devon derby between the old rivals at Home Park is a crucial encounter for two sides with different ambitions for the end of the season.

Plymouth have won their last two games and three of their last six with two draws and only one defeat - a timely burst of form given their perilous position near the relegation zone. Last Saturday's trip to Chesterfield ended in a frustrating postponement due to weather conditions, so John Sheridan's side have had a week to focus on this encounter.

So too have Exeter whose fixture at Rotherham was also a victim of the weather last weekend.  Paul Tisdale's team emphatically defeated Bradford City 4-1 the previous weekend so should be full of confidence.

So the 60th league encounter between the two teams is sure to be a tense affair. The Pilgrims need points to continue their upward mobility away from the tight battle at the bottom of the table while the Grecians are looking to maintain their bid for a play-off place. Who will take the spoils? We will know at about 2.45pm.
