As already reported on various social media outlets, Helston Athletic Football Club can confirm that First Team Manager Steven “Sid” Taylor and First Team Coach Richie Full will be leaving the Club at the end of the current season.

Chairman Paul Hendy said “What Sid and Richie have achieved with the First team at Helston has been quite remarkable and something I hope they are both extremely proud of. In just seven seasons they have taken a team struggling in the Cornwall Combination League, to an established team in the South West Peninsula League Premier Division. Additionally, in 2013 we played in the Final of the Cornwall Senior Cup for only the second time in the Clubs 122 year history and just this season were eligible for, and competed in, the FA Vase for the first time.
However, following very amicable discussions on Saturday, all parties involved agreed, that a change in the First team management for next season would be in everybody’s best interest.”

Sid Taylor added, “Richie and I have had a great seven years at Helston, during which we have helped the football teams develop into a real force in Cornish football, as well as seen the Club become an important part of the community of the town of Helston. I would like to thank my family, all the players, supporters and volunteers at Helston who enabled me to have so much success and make memories that will last a lifetime. I wish the Club all the best and am sure they will continue to develop and grow both and off the field in the future.”

“Following in Sid and Richie’s footsteps will be a hard act to follow” added Hendy “and we cannot thank them enough for everything they have done for the Club. However, as we now enter a new phase for the Clubs growth and development, we are able to offer somebody a unique and one-off challenge to build on a strong foundation, both on and off the pitch, and lead the club to new levels, including the possible opportunity of playing in the FA Cup next season.”

Helston AFC has immediately started a search for a new manager for next season. Interested parties who have the appropriate experience, time and interest in taking on a new challenge should Paul Hendy for an initial informal discussion.
