With women’s football fever sweeping the nation following the success of the Lionesses’ the firm behind a brand-new community 6 a side league which is kicking off in Bideford are delighted to be welcoming mixed and women’s teams.

The Bideford 6 a side league which is scheduled to kick off at the college is already proving popular with teams from across the community signing up to play.

And the fact that women and mixed teams have always been part of Leisure Leagues ethos, as Area Manager Shakeil explained: “One of the things we pride ourselves on is the way we are able to attract players from diverse backgrounds to play and this commitment to equality extends to welcoming women’s teams and mixed teams too.“

Leisure Leagues have received awards worldwide for their work with the women’s game. Leisure Leagues Pakistan (below) were praised by the UN.

Now more than women’s teams than ever are signing up, with Shakeil adding: “As long as you are 16 or over you can join us for the games when they kick off on 16th January and we look forward to welcoming all the budding Beth Mead’s and Ellen White’s.”

It isn’t just players that are needed for the leagues as female referees are also welcomed, and they do not need to be qualified, but they can be assured of the strictest discipline in 5 a side football, or 6 a side football, anywhere in the UK.

If you haven’t got a team, but still want to play, then you can take advantage of the new single player sign up. Leisure Leagues will then assist you in finding a team.
