Plymouth Albion 41

Jersey 27

RFU Championship, Sunday 15 September 2013

A victory and a bonus point for Albion was the reward for an improved second half performance by Albion against Jersey in the Big Weekend match at Exeter's Sandy Park.

After an ineffective first half, Plymouth played some excellent attacking rugby, scoring five tries in a high scoring game to entertain the crowd and those watching on television.

Fly-half Dan Mugford kicked 16 points - a one hundred percent success rate - to launch Albion's Championship season in grand style.

New coach, James Shanahan told the club's website:

“There were some choice words said at half time. After 14 weeks of pre season I was very disappointed with our first half performance and let the players know my feelings.

“It was a different story after the interval and our replacements made a real impact when they came on.

“I’m delighted to get the season off to a winning start and we can now concentrate on the visit of Moseley.”

Moseley travel to Brickfields on Friday (20 September).
