Woman seriously injured in collision

A 78-year-old woman suffered serious head injuries after being in collision with a van in Bideford on Thursday, 12 December, 2013.

The woman was walking her dog in Eastbourne Terrace in Westward Ho! at around 3pm when she was in collision with a Vauxhall Combo van.

She sustained a serious head injury and was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth by air ambulance. The woman, from Westward Ho!, remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The male van driver, in his 30s and from Bideford, suffered shock in the incident.

Officers from the Force Serious Collisions Investigation Unit have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
