Woman rescued from the River Tamar

Police recieved a call from the Torpoint Ferry Office at 7.45pm yesterday to say that a woman was in the River Tamar.

The 39 year old woman was a passenger on the foot of the Torpoint Ferry.

It is still not known how she became in the water.

On seeing the woman in the water, a man jumped in to save her.

The man has been named locally as a Royal Marine.

The female was treated by ambulance crew who attended the incident. She was then taken to Derriford Hospital.

An investigation into how the woman came to be in the River is still under investigation.
