As a proud partner of The Big Lunch, Halifax is encouraging as many people as possible to come together as a community to have fun and get to know each other. On Sunday June 7, Halifax Plymouth New George Street and Halifax Mutley Plain will be hosting their own Big Lunch at Goosewell Primary School, Goosewell Road from 12 – 3pm. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun.

The Big Lunch, a lottery funded initiative from the Eden Project, is the perfect recipe for having fun with neighbours and helping to build stronger neighbourhoods. It encourages people across the UK to meet up for a few hours of food, friendship and fun. Over the past few years, millions of people have taken part in Big Lunches and given extra in their communities – demonstrating that we’re better equipped to tackle the problems we face when we face them together.

Halifax Big Lunch 2015 Plymouth is raising money for the charity Headway and the Goosewell Primary School Memorial Fund. With a summer fete theme, guests are invited to bring a picnic along and join in the family activities including face painting, a bouncy castle, raffle with prizes donated by local businesses and sports day events, with a DJ playing throughout the day.

Bhavi Hackworthy, Halifax Banking Consultant and Community Ambassador for Plymouth & Cornwall said: “We’re really excited to be hosting a Big Lunch event at Goosewell Primary School on Sunday 7th June. There will be lots of fun activities for all the family to raise money for charity and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone from the local community along. The Big Lunch provides a great opportunity for us to talk to people on a more personal level and really helps strengthen relationships in the community”.

David Nicholson, Group Director, Halifax Community Bank said: “As part of our Helping Britain Prosper Plan we are committed to be the banking group that brings communities closer together, to help them thrive. Halifax branches and colleagues are getting involved and organising Big Lunches all around the country.”
