Weather warning of more rain for Devon

The Met Office has issued another weather warning as heavy rain is set to return to the region this evening.

A band of heavy rain will move in from the west, arriving in Cornwall late on Wednesday afternoon, then affecting the rest of southwest England and south Wales through the evening and overnight, before clearing from most areas towards dawn on Thursday.

Forecasters are warning of the likelihood of some flooding, with some travel disruption possible and flooding of roads.

The warning is valid from 4pm today (Tuesday 6 January) until 8am tomorrow.

In addition, strong south to southeasterly winds will reach gale force for a time around exposed coasts and hills.

The Met Office forecast for the next five days is as follows:

This Evening and Tonight:

A band of rain and strong winds will be moving in from the west, turning heavy at times. Clearing eastern parts around dawn with clear spells and isolated showers following. Minimum Temperature 5°C.

Thursday:

Thursday will be bright and breezy. Scattered showers will move eastwards, turning heavy at times with hail possible. Maximum Temperature 10°C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

A mixture of conditions, with some sunny spells and showers or longer spells of rain, turning heavy at times and possibly wintry on highest ground. Generally breezy. Temperatures near normal.
