The LGiU and CCLA are delighted to announce that Councillor Tudor Evans (Leader, Plymouth City Council) has won the 2015 C’llr Achievement Award for Leader of the Year.

The sixth annual Awards Ceremony was held on Monday evening (March 2nd) at the Lord Mayor’s Parlour, in Westminster City Council.  The Awards are the only national ceremony to honour the hard work of councillors from across the country that often goes unrecognised.

Councillor Evans was selected as Leader of the Year for his outstanding commitment to the role of Councillor and Council Leader, strong relationships with community groups and council partners and his commitment to accountability and scrutiny.  His work transcends politics, as he is a true regional leader, building relationships across the political spectrum.

With nearly 200 nominations, a record amount for the Awards, competition was extremely tight this year. The winners were selected by a group of judges made up of local government experts and councillors. The full list of winners is available on our website here.

Upon receiving the Award, Councillor Tudor Evans said: "It's such an honour for me to have been recognised personally as Leader of the Year but this award is really for Plymouth City Council and the City of Plymouth. Most of all I'd like to thank the people of Ham ward. Without them, I wouldn't be here at all!"

Jonathan Carr-West, Chief Executive, LGiU said: “It is a real privilege to honour the outstanding efforts of these Councillors who work day in and day out to make our communities healthier, our streets safer and our public services stronger.

The 2015 C’llr Award winners have set the bar for all Councillors with their exemplary leadership and passion for change. We congratulate Councillor Evans and look forward to hearing about his future success.”
