Theatre Royal Plymouth has today launched five new creative roles in their leadership team which are now open for application. The new roles will join their Chief Executive and Executive Producer, James Mackenzie-Blackman, and recently appointed Executive Director of Producing and Programming, Liz King, to deliver the producing and programming strategy for all of TRP’s creative and artistic activities, on-stage and off.

These new roles come after TRP announced a major reorganisation of their creative and producing team, to be led by a group of artists, instead of one Artistic Director. This new direction of creative leadership was influenced by industry colleagues who led an independent review of TRP’s creative leadership, commissioned by Chief Executive and Executive Producer James Mackenzie-Blackman.

The five new positions being recruited for are; Associate Director, ChildrenYoung People and FamiliesAssociate Director, DanceAssociate Director, TheatreArtist for Change, Diversity and Inclusion, and Artist for Change, Climate Emergency.

About the new roles James said: “Commencing the recruitment for these roles is an important moment in our period of creative renewal and demonstrates our ambition to diversify the knowledge and expertise in our team to ensure we produce and programme the very best work for audiences and those who take part.”

This new creative direction for TRP is fully orientated to meet the needs of artists, audiences both known and un-known, and those who take-part. This latest recruitment announcement demonstrates the theatres continued dedication to bringing world class theatre and creative experiences to communities and audiences in Plymouth and across the region.
