Police in Plymouth are trying to locate a man and a woman who are alleged to have been involved in the assault of a taxi driver in the Hooe area of the city in the early hours of Sunday morning (14 July).

It is understood the taxi driver picked up his fare – a man and a woman – outside Cuba on North Hill at around 2.40am on Sunday.  He was driving a black Metro cab.

He drove to Hooe where the journey ended – sometime between 3am and 3.08am, outside McMullens Car Sales, which is opposite Hooe Lake.

It is alleged that the man and woman refused payment and there was an altercation, where the woman is reported to have pushed the taxi driver and the man (passenger) kicked the nearside wing mirror off the cab.

The female suspect is described as being white, aged in her early twenties, around 5’ 4” tall and of slim build.  She had shoulder length blonde hair which was half-up and half-down and was wearing a white dress.

The male suspect is described as being white, in his mid-twenties, around 5’ 8” tall and of an athletic, muscular build.  He had short blond hair and was wearing a white t-shirt and shorts.  He had tattoos on both hands and spoke with a local accent.

Police are keen to locate and speak to these two people.  If anyone either witnessed the incident or has any information about the two suspects please call 101 and quote EK/13/594, alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
