Visitors to the Royal William Yard will be able to take a bus right into the heart of the historic waterfront site from Sunday 24 July.

Citybus service 34A will be going through the main gate all day, every day so whether you are heading out for a meal, enjoying evening drinks with friends, going to an event or just sightseeing it will take you right to your destination.

The 34A is supported by Urban Splash and Plymouth City Council and links the city centre with Millbay and the Royal William Yard every 30 minutes, seven days a week.

It runs from early morning until 11.30pm Monday to Saturday and 11.13pm on Sundays and bank holidays and from Sunday it will be stopping by the Brewhouse, overlooking the harbour.

The service complements the number 34, which also runs every 30 minutes and from the city centre and serves the bus stop immediately outside the yard.

Nathan Cornish of Urban Splash said: “We look forward to welcoming customers on the 34A, which will bring them into the heart of the Royal William Yard and all the attractions it offers. It’s been our long term goal to get the bus to penetrate into the yard so it becomes an even more important part of the range of transport modes on offer.”

Richard Stevens, Managing Director of Plymouth Citybus said: “We are pleased to be working in partnership with Urban Splash and Plymouth City Council to allow the 34A to take customers right into the Royal William Yard all day, every day.”

Councillor Steve Ricketts, Cabinet Member for Transport and Housing Delivery, said: “This is great news for people visiting the Royal William Yard as well as those living and working there. Buses will now drop you right on the doorstep of all the great cafes, restaurants, bars and galleries and provide a convenient alternative to taking the car.”

The 34A is financially supported by developer contributions from Urban Splash and money secured by the Council through the Department for Transport’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund.
