Stagecoach SW hold recruitment days in Exeter

This January local bus operator, Stagecoach, are encouraging job seekers across the region to get their careers on the move with a number of recruitment events to drive interest in vacant positions across Exeter. This is the perfect opportunity for people across the city and surrounding areas to hear about the package of benefits Stagecoach offer their driving team, and also see just how easy it is to sign up!

The Stagecoach Exeter team are heading out to a number of recruitment events to talk people through the opportunity and guide interested applicants through the process. So, If you want to find out more, head over to one of the following free recruitment events:

  • Two sessions on Tuesday 24th January 2023 at 10am or 12pm at the Depot Job Centre in Exeter, specifically for Ukrainian residents.
  • All day event at Princesshay, Bedford Square on 28th January 2023 from 10am
  • A session at the Job Centre Plus in the City centre on Tuesday 31st January 2023

One of the free recruitment events is aimed specifically at Ukrainian refugees.  Stagecoach South West are welcoming Ukrainian refugees in the UK to apply for vacant bus driver positions. The company hope to support the Ukrainian community, beginning their new lives in the UK, by offering the opportunity of a secure job, with a guaranteed salary. Ukrainian bus drivers can exchange their licence for a UK version, it’s a simple as applying online and Stagecoach will guide you through the process.  Attendees at the event will have the opportunity to listen to a short presentation accompanied by an interpreter, the opportunity to meet the team and assistance with applying if they want to sign up. The day has been organised with the Department for Work and Pensions, held at the Depot Job Centre in Exeter, on Tuesday 24th January 2023.

Across all of the events open to the public, the Stagecoach team hope to highlight all the benefits the company offer their staff, and also reassure those interested just how easy it is to train to be a bus driver. Drivers in Exeter receive a generous salary of £13.01 per hour, a guaranteed a minimum of 39 hours per week with the opportunity to earn even more with overtime. In addition, drivers enjoy flexible shifts, a generous company pension scheme and 20 days holiday (plus Bank Holidays).

If you’re an Exeter PCV holder, you’ll be able to take advantage of the fantastic welcome bonus of £2000, which will be paid in three instalments; £500 on completion of training, £500 after 12 months service and £1000 after completion of 24 months. Please note, this offers is only valid until March 2023.

How does it work?

You’ll earn whilst you learn with the Stagecoach in-house training programme delivered by Realise Training. The high-quality courses, use a combination of practical training and classroom sessions, providing a comprehensive package designed to give you all the skills you’ll need to be a professional driver.  Stagecoach cover all of your training costs to achieve a recognised national qualification in Passenger Transport and your PCV licence, worth around £4,000
