Dedicated staff in the Endoscopy unit at Derriford Hospital have received a formal recognition from the Joint Advisory Group (JAG) on GI Endoscopy.

The unit is the largest in the South West, and perform more than 14,000 procedures a year.

The JAG accreditation ensure quality and safety of patient care by maintaining standards.

Sister Mel Gandy, Manager of the Unit, said: “I am delighted that after many months of hard work, producing audits, continuing to deliver and maintain high standards of care for our patients, as well as concentrating on driving down our waiting lists, we have been awarded JAG accreditation again.

“This demonstrates that we are a unit that is measured on the service we provide to our patients. By encouraging patient input too, we are able to make continued improvements, and with this commitment from all multi-disciplinary team members, we feel this is what makes us a unique unit in a challenging and diverse environment.

“I am incredibly proud of all my staff on the unit. Through their continued hard work, professionalism and dedication, they have made the endoscopy unit the success that it is today.

"Well done team, you are all amazing."
