Police investigate early hours assault in Plymouth

Police are investigating after a 49-year-old man was assaulted on Vauxhall Street, Plymouth in the early hours of Thursday 20 June.

The victim was inside the Favourite Foods takeaway between 2.00 and 3.30am where he was involved in an argument with a drunk woman who had allegedly pushed in the queue.

The argument escalated and two men became involved inside the restaurant. Shortly after the victim had left the premises the two men approached and assaulted him by punching and then kicking him in the head while he was on the floor.

The two men are described as white and 6ft 2 and 5ft 10 in height. It is not known what they were wearing.

Shortly after the assault the victim was helped by two bystanders. Either during the assault or sometime afterwards the victim lost a Samsung mobile phone and chunky silver bracelet.

PC Paula Tucker, from the Plymouth local investigation team, said: “The victim received head injuries from this unprovoked attack and I am keen to bring the offenders to justice.

“If you witnessed the assault or have any information about the missing phone or bracelet please get in touch.

“We are currently reviewing CCTV and are hopeful this will lead to the identification of those responsible.”
