Plymouth murder victim named

Police are continuing their investigation into the suspected murder of a 76-year-old woman in Plymouth.

The deceased woman has been named as Gloria Perring.

The elderly man who was found injured in the house remains in hospital in a serious condition. Detectives plan to speak to him when his condition has improved.

Police and ambulance were called to an address on Ashleigh Close, Tamerton Foliot in Plymouth at around 9.15am on Tuesday 5 May following reports of a disturbance at the property.

On arrival officers found the woman deceased and a 79-year-old man who was injured, in a collapsed state. He was treated at the scene and has since been taken to Derriford Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Detectives plan to speak to him at a later stage when his condition has improved.

A cordon has been set up at the address whilst police continue their investigations.

The post mortem will take place on the deceased woman on Wednesday 6 May. Formal identification has not yet been carried out.

Detective Inspector Ian Ringrose said: “We are currently undertaking house to house investigations to see if anyone noticed or heard anything suspicious. Currently we are not seeking anyone in connection with this incident; however we are keeping an open mind.”
