A recruitment consultant from Plymouth has scooped more than £28,000 with bookmakers William Hill after placing a 50p each-way bet!

Ryan Jarvis, 31, placed the tiny bet on a seven-horse accumulator on the racing and managed to turn the £1 stake in to a huge jackpot.

Mr Jarvis said: “Nobody believes me that I’ve won such a massive amount! I was sitting on my own watching the last leg and my heart was beating so fast. It was an amazing feeling when the final horse won, but it took me a long time to convince my wife that I wasn’t joking!”

Ryan owns an ex-racehorse called Street Power and with the help of his wife, they are currently in the process of retraining the horse to be a showjumper.

Jon Ivan-Duke for bookies William Hill said: “It’s a small bet but Ryan has won a life-changing amount of money. It just goes to show that you don’t have to bet big to win big.”
