Plymouth Argyle players are gearing up for an important festive fixture .. their Christmas trip to the children’s wards and theatre suite at Derriford Hospital.

The players and management staff visit Derriford Hospital every December in the run-up to Christmas, where they chat to children and their families and hand out Christmas gifts.

The fixture, on Wednesday 18 December, may not earn Argyle any league points but it does lift the spirits of children and their families being cared for at Derriford Hospital over the festive period.

Ann James, Chief Executive, said: “I know our patients and staff will be thrilled to welcome Argyle along. It’s a difficult time of year for children to be in hospital and a visit from the Argyle players and staff is something to brighten their day.”

Argyle captain Conor Hourihane said: “Christmas is about giving and sharing, and the boys and I always look forward to our seasonal visit to meet the children and their families at Derriford. It is one of the highlights of our year.”
