A woman died after being hit by a car yesterday evening at the University College of St Mark and St John in Plymouth.

Police were alerted to a serious collision in the car park at the rear of the university at around 6.40pm on Friday 17 October, after a Vauxhall Corsa collided with a pedestrian.

The 77-year-old female pedestrian, who was from the Plymstock area, died as a result of her injuries sustained in the collision.

The male driver of the Corsa was uninjured.

A section of the car park was closed while police forensic collision investigators carried out a detailed examination of the scene.

The car park was busy at the time with several teams playing hockey on the adjacent pitch.

Police are appealing for any witness who may have seen what happened to contact them on 101 quoting log 708 17/10/14.
