Residents and businesses in Plymouth are being warned to expect more heavy rain and strong winds this weekend.

Grand Parade, Madeira Road, Radford Road and Pier Street on the Plymouth waterfront remain closed following damage to walls and restaurants earlier in the week.

Amey engineers along with Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service have been reviewing the infrastructure of the Waterfront and Wet Wok Restaurants to establish the extent of the damage.

A clean-up operation has been underway clearing away debris and securing the buildings to prevent risk of further damage.

Residents are being advised to be alert and stay away from the waterfront.

The Met Office have issued an amber warning as heavy rain and high winds are expected from Friday night through Saturday and the City Council’s highways contractor will have crews on standby.

Multi-agency response teams will also be meeting regularly and monitoring the impact. If any residents are displaced by flooding, or damage to their properties rest centres will be provided.

People are asked to report incidents of flooding on Plymouth roads by emailing  plymouth.watchman@amey.co.uk or phoning 01752 668000.
