Ottery St Mary’s popular award-winning café Coldharbour Field Kitchen has released more information about its mini festival on August 5.

The Summer Sessions are a chance to see six brilliant home grown bands: The Barefoot Bandit, Revelation Roots, Gigi and the Grits, Tricky Situation, The Kieron Garret Quartet and The Kabins. But as well as enjoying performances, festival goers will be able to revel in a variety of festival extras.

These include a fun photo booth for posing pics, a ‘secret garden’ chill out area and a bamboo maypole with sari bunting, with henna designs by The Henna Peacock and pretty sari and patchwork kantha accessories available from Turquoise Tree Designs.

Street food will include vegan, vegetarian and home reared meat options, with pulled pork and vegetarian baps available in the evening. Co-owner Beth Ashfield said: “We’re planning on offering a great choice with something for everyone – and everything is being freshly cooked in our new wood-fired oven.”

Festival goers will have a choice of bars, including the Flaming Barrel Gin Bar, where Coldharbour’s own gin is served from a converted horsebox, plus Utopian lager and Devon Red cider on tap, and the usual choice of wines, spirits, beers and soft drinks from the Field Kitchen bar.

The music stage is under a stretch tent especially erected for the occasion, providing sun shade or rain cover for around 300. “But we are, of course, anticipating a beautiful sunny afternoon and evening, so everyone can enjoy the fantastic views while they dance along to the bands,” added Beth.

The Summer Sessions kicks off at 4pm and runs through to 11pm at the Field Kitchen, which is found at the top of Slade Road in Ottery. There’s plenty of free onsite parking in an adjacent field or locals can walk up the lane from Yonder Street.

At just £25 tickets for the one-day festival are selling well. They’re available to buy in-person from Coldharbour Farm Shop or the Field Kitchen, or via Eventbrite
