Staff at Butterfly Lodge Dementia Nursing Home in Plymouth are celebrating a quadruple haul of awards in the 2024 Celebrating Excellence in Care Awards, relaunched this year by Plymouth City Council for the first time since 2019.

Manager Clare Sinclair scooped the coveted title of Care Home Manager of the Year, with her deputy Sarah McCaffrey securing a highly commended in the category of Care Home Deputy of the Year.

Butterfly Lodge’s catering staff were also outright winners of the Culinary Care Team of the Year award, and the whole team came highly commended as Care Home Team of the Year.

Clare Sinclair said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be recognised in this way for all the hard work, and love, that we put into every working day.

“I am so proud of my team and the way they work together, and I want to congratulate all of them for these amazing wins in the face of some very stiff competition.”

Gary Walbridge, interim strategic director for people at Plymouth City Council, said: “Huge congratulations to our highly deserving winners and well done to everyone who was nominated.

“We were blown away by the sheer volume of nominations which just goes to show how much brilliant work is going on every single day across Plymouth.

“Our adult social care workers are invaluable, supporting people to live independently for as long as possible and caring for adults who need extra support with dignity and respect.

“The Awards are a brilliant opportunity for the whole city to thank these amazing staff.”

More than 40 of Plymouth’s most dedicated and enthusiastic adult social care workers and teams were celebrated at the awards ceremony on 23 March, with awards with recognised the contributions of those working in care homes, supported living provision, day centres and domiciliary care.

Butterfly Lodge is a specialist dementia nursing home in the St Budeaux area of Plymouth which can accommodate up to 37 residents. It is run by specialist dementia care provider Camelot Care which also has homes in Bridgwater, Wellington and Yeovil.
