Drake Circus, Plymouth has commissioned a local student to design a logo for their upcoming event, History Week Live, which marks the centenary of the three towns joining to form Plymouth

History Week Live is a free event in Drake Circus, due to run from the 27–31 May.

Drake Circus will be celebrating the rich history of Plymouth by transforming the shopping centre into a budding Historians paradise. The Centre will be packed with fun things to do for young and old all celebrating the rich history of Britain's Ocean City.

From children’s storytelling to Taxidermy, there will be something for everyone, with highlights including art and craft workshops running throughout the week in conjunction with Plymouth College of Art and Plymouth Museum showcasing some unknown local treasures.

Drake Circus ran a competition through out Plymouth inviting local art students to design a logo for the event. Local Plymouth University student Joe Knight beat fierce competition to be picked to design the logo.

“I am delighted to have my work showcased at Drake Circus, Plymouth, I have worked really hard on the logo and I’m glad that the judges picked my design which features the icons of Plymouth,” said student Joe Knight.

Greg Lumley, Drake Circus Centre Director, said: “Drake Circus has a strong community focus and is proud to have the opportunity to showcase local talent. All of the entries we received from both the Plymouth College of Art and Plymouth University were of a high standard and it was difficult to pick a clear winner.”
