A group of people with learning difficulties who form the All Stars Theatre Group have gained sponsorship from a Plymouth legal firm.

Richardson’s Legal Services, which is owned by David Richardson, will sponsor the group’s show that takes place on Sunday, December 7.

Mr Richardson said: “I went to their July show and it was wonderful. I was so impressed that I have decided to support them. The theatre group enables its members to develop self confidence and much needed independence and I am very proud to be able to help them.”

Co-founders David and Jan Halifax have run all Stars for many years. It’s a theatre group with a difference as it has been developed as a way to enable people with all kinds of disabilities to show off their performing ability.
The group use community venues for their rehearsals and regularly perform their shows to packed out audiences.

Mr Halifax said: “Richardson’s Legal Services’ sponsorship of our group, came about after he came to one of our June 2014 show. David showed a great interest in what we are trying to achieve. We explained to him we were all volunteers and get no help from Government Funds. We survive on ticket sales from our shows and donations. David Richardson sponsorship will help tremendously with our every day expenses so we as a group can survive.

Also his contacts within the business community will hopefully help us in the long term. We cannot thank David Richardson Legal Services enough.”

The only funding to run the group comes from ticket sales and from the fundraising efforts of families, friends and supporters.

Twice a year the All Stars, who are all aged over 20, put on a show at the Mews Theatre, Plymouth.

The group’s next performance is The All Stars and Friends on Sunday, December 7.  For further information please visit www.allstarstheatregroup.com.
