SOUTH Hams MP Dr Sarah Wollaston and more than 80 Devon businesswomen attended the latest branch launch of networking group Leading Women UK this week.
Inspirational speaker and conservative Member of Parliament for the constituency, Dr Wollaston outlined her journey from GP to MP and the importance of including more women in politics including through possible job-sharing schemes for MPs.
The evening took place at the prestigious, newly-revamped Glazebrook House at South Brent in Devon and also included talks from Leading Women UK's Founder Rachel Jones and the new South Hams Champion Holly Jones from Dartmouth's Manna from Devon.
"It is fantastic to have such a prestigious and inspirational speaker join us for the launch of our next network in this most dynamic area of Devon," said Rachel Jones.
"We welcome the support, advice and representation Dr Sarah Wollaston can give to women in business here in the South Hams.
At Leading Women UK we are passionate about leading women forward to a greater future and representing their needs at the highest level.
We believe in peer-to-peer support, mentoring, networking and that positive chance is not only necessary but possible for working women and are determined to continue representing them at the highest level."
Leading Women UK is the fastest growing all-female networking group in the south west. It started in Cornwall and now has branches in Devon and Somerset. Meetings are held in each area once a month and members are welcome at them all.
