GO! shortlisted as a finalist for Best New Charity

GO! (Great Opportunities Together) has been shortlisted as a finalist for for ‘Best New Charity’ in the Charity Times Awards and also the ‘Community Award’.

The charity was shortlisted for the work of its volunteer choir and orchestra in the South West and the work of the GO! Clubs in the South East.

GO! was registered in November 2014 with a vision to create great opportunities in music, theatre, art, work, sport and technology, with innovation and people at the very core of what it does.

The charity has over 20 projects spanning the South in Devon, Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey and Wiltshire to help build confidence, wellbeing and self- esteem.

In its first 18 months GO! have worked with over 1000 young people, provided over 2500 hours of clubs and events, engaged with over 400 families and are working with over 380 volunteers which includes its dedicated 170 strong volunteer choir and orchestra in Plymouth.

“We are delighted that all of your ongoing encouragement enables us to assist young people who have issues with mental or physical wellbeing, to create real jobs and volunteering opportunities and importantly to create opportunities for those who are marginalized to explore the arts, education and sport.”

The Charity Times Awards continue to be the pre-eminent celebration of best practice in the UK charity and not-for-profit sector. Now in their 17th year, the awards are run by Charity Times Magazine - the leading title for UK non-profit professionals.

This year’s winners will be announced at the Charity Times Awards Gala Dinner & Ceremony on 28 September 2016 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London.

The event was attended by over six hundred guests in 2015 and this year is set to be bigger and better than ever.
