Elderly woman attacked by dog

Police in Plymouth are appealing for information following an incident where a woman was attacked by a dog.

Investigating officers have released images of both the suspect owner and injuries that the victim sustained in the hope of identifying potential witnesses and the suspect.

The incident occurred at around 10.30am on Saturday 29th August on Bridwell Road in the Weston Mill area of Plymouth.

The victim, an elderly woman in her 70’s, was subject to a dog attack, and bitten by a brown Staffordshire bull terrier in an unprovoked attack.

This occurred whilst she stopped to allow the female dog owner and dog to pass by.

The dog was on a  on a brown leather lead but pulled away from its owner and  sunk its teeth into the victim’s thigh pulling her over on to the pavement in the process.

The dog owner muttered a few words before walking off down Bridwell road.

The Staffordshire terrier is described as brown in colour with white flecks.

The owner is described as being a white woman aged around 60 and was wearing a pink jumper.
