Drake Circus has unveiled its new summer installation transforming the centre’s atrium and its Old Town Street entrance into a vibrant underwater spectacle.

Following the success of previous installations, this year’s multi-coloured display is made from a number of giant jellyfish and fish, as well as a canopy of blue, green and purple bunting, providing the perfect photo opportunity for visitors.

The ocean-inspired installation, which has been chosen to celebrate Plymouth Sound becoming the UK’s first National Marine Park, has been designed with sustainability in mind, with its materials made from either biodegradable, recyclable or sustainable sources where possible.

The centre will also be partnering with local community businesses to host a range of interactive marine-themed workshops and activities at the centre*.

Greg Lumley, centre director at Drake Circus, said: “We’re incredibly excited to reveal our latest summer installation which was designed to celebrate Plymouth’s National Marine Park achievement.

“It’s great to be able to showcase our city’s maritime heritage and culture via a fun and bright spectacle, all whilst bringing a smile to our visitors’ faces too – we can’t wait to see their pictures!”

The display will be live throughout the summer until September and visitors are encouraged to take photos and share them with @DrakeCircus on Facebook and Instagram.
