The winners of the annual Plymouth in Bloom competition have been announced.

Plymouth in Bloom is the annual competition for budding local gardeners and is supported by Plymouth City Council’s Street Scene Services team, Plymouth Garden Centre and led by the Plymouth in Bloom committee.

The ceremony was held at Plymouth Garden Centre in Fort Austin Avenue, Plymouth on Thursday 25 September.

Councillor Brian Vincent, Plymouth City Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “We were delighted with the quality of entries this year in the annual Plymouth In Bloom competition and I would like to congratulate all the winners and also commend everyone else who entered.”

Mo Townsend, Vice Chair of the Plymouth in Bloom Committee, said: “Once again the competition has been a great success and we’d like to thank all those who entered.

“We also held the Blooming Brilliant Show this year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Royal Horticultural Society’s In Bloom competition, which was also a great success.”

There were around 150 entries this year and categories included school gardens, window boxes, scarecrows and allotments. Entrants included local businesses, schools, and community groups.

The Champion of Champions for this year’s Plymouth in Bloom was Mr R Osborne from the Plymstock area.
