It’s time for parents to have their say about the school admissions process in Plymouth.

Starting school, whether primary or secondary is an important step, and the Council wants to make applying for places as fair and straightforward as possible.

Parents are therefore being asked for their views on the proposed school admission arrangements for the start of the 2018 academic year.

Comments are needed on:

  • admission numbers for all schools
  • key dates in the admissions process
  • admission arrangements for all of the schools taking part in the consultation

Councillor Terri Beer, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said: “Our schools are an important part of this city and it’s absolutely essential that we consult on admissions arrangements every year. We know that the school admission process can be a worrying time for parents, which is why I hope as many people as possible will take the time to read the consultation document and let us have their views.”

The consultation opens on Monday 19 December and the closing date is Sunday 29 January 2017. Any comments should be submitted online using the form available at www.plymouth.gov.uk/admissionconsultation.

Comments can also be submitted in writing to: School Admissions Consultation, Learning and Communities, Plymouth City Council, Windsor House, Tavistock Road, Plymouth PL6 5UF or by email to schoolconsultations@plymouth.gov.uk  by that date.
