Award-winning Chartered Accountants Haines Watts North Devon LLP, announces the promotion of partner Vince Edwards to Managing Partner of the Bideford-based firm with incumbent Managing Partner John Edwards, moving to new role as Senior Partner.

John Edwards took over the helm of Sully & Co (Bideford) in 1983, initially operating the business with just himself and his PA. From that time he grew the company to 25 staff and a turnover of over £1m looking after more than 500 owner managed businesses from Minehead to Penzance. These included corporate and professionals, small businesses, sole traders and in particular the farming community. In August 2011 John successfully merged his practice within the national Haines Watts Group who specialise in owner-managed businesses. This enabled the improvement and extension of services offered to clients. Since that time John has continued to manage the North Devon Office.

No stranger to awards, the staff at Haines Watts North Devon celebrated the group’s national success as ‘Accountancy Firm of the Year’ – Larger Clients. The prestigious award was presented at the 2015 Financial Directors (FDs) Excellence Awards, where Haines Watts was also a close-second to winning the ‘Smaller Clients’ award. This recognition follows on from winning the national award for Small, Medium Size Entities (SMEs’), last year, and ‘Auditor of the Year’ in the SME category for two consecutive years previously in 2012 and 2013.

John Edwards – Senior Partner Haines Watts North Devon said: “Since joining the Haines Watts Group I am delighted to say it has been an exciting time for the firm growing the client base and winning prestigious national awards for an amazing four consecutive years. Joining the Haines Watts Group was an essential part of the strategy of continuing the success of the firm by further extending and improving support offered to our clients. After four exceptional years, I felt it was the right time to hand over the day-to-day operations into the capable hands of Vince, who is very well respected throughout the region. I want to reassure all my loyal clients that I will still be here in the role of Senior Partner and continue a hands-on approach with a close and personal relationship.”

Vince Edwards – Managing Partner Haines Watts North Devon said: “I am very much looking forward to my new role as Managing Partner, however, John will be a hard act to follow. Well-known and respected in the area, he is very popular with staff, clients and associates alike. I am delighted that he will still be very much part of the team, offering his extensive expertise and knowledge. Together we will continue to take our clients’ businesses, and by extension our own, from strength to strength.”
