Babcock announced as main half marathon sponsors

GO2, Organisers of Plymouth’s Half Marathon, are pleased to announce local business Babcock as headline sponsors of Plymouth’s Half Marathon for 2014. The popular half marathon course, which takes place on Sunday 27th April, has already signed up over 4,500 runners for the event, which has helped to entice local businesses like Babcock to become more involved in the city’s event.

Phil Jones, Babcock Managing Director, Naval Bases said: “This leading community event provides an opportunity for runners of all abilities to take part in an exciting and fun event which in turn raises a fantastic amount of money for both nominated and individuals’ favourite charities. The many runners, which include some of our own employees, will have individual targets and goals they would like to achieve through this event and we would like to wish every participant the best of luck in achieving them.”

Jamie Warren, Marketing Manager at GO2, said: “We are always pleased to announce the support of local businesses, particularly when the brand offers the same values that are parallel to ours at GO2. Babcock do some great work in the community to get people active, which is exactly what we promote across all of our races.

Also new for 2014 is the Company Challenge, which allows colleagues to enter a team to complete the course together. Jamie Warren continued: “The Company Challenge is a great way to inspire a workplace, set a challenge and motivate employees to be active and take part in a great community event! It’s also a great opportunity for some healthy industry competition between rival companies!”

The official charity partners for the 2014 race are Cancer Research UK and Children’s Hospice South West. A massive £130,000 was raised in 2013 by all the half marathon charity partners and many more thousands of pounds for other charities.
