Alison Seabeck, Labour MP for Plymouth Moor View since 2005, will fight the next general election for Labour it was confirmed at the weekend. Ms Seabeck received the unanimous backing of the local Labour Party in a meeting on Saturday.

Speaking after the meeting Alison said: “It’s an honour to have represented Plymouth Moor View for the last eight years and I am both grateful and humbled to have been endorsed again, unanimously, by the local Labour Party this weekend.  I have a terrific group of members who come out every week with me to listen to people’s concerns on the doorstep and this is so important when we are facing some tough challenges both here in Plymouth and across the country.

“We must ensure that my constituents feel they are being treated fairly and that we have a government who stands up for the many not just the privileged few.    I will be fighting for the election of a Labour Government in 2015”

Billy Tonner, Chair of Plymouth Moor View Labour Party, added: “As a dedicated passionate voice for Plymouth, Alison has made it easy for us to get behind her for 2015 and a unanimous decision to endorse her was taken.

“The impact this Government are having on the city and its residents is becoming increasingly visible, from the bedroom tax to changes to NHS. The need to retain our hardworking Labour MP has never been more clear and so we are all behind Alison 100%.”
