British Gas and Barclays are running a series of free events to help Plymouth residents explore how to make their homes more energy efficient.

The ‘Exploring Home Energy Efficiency Exhibition’ takes place across six weeks, running until 9th December in the Plymouth City Centre Barclays branch during opening hours. The events will showcase some of the technology that could help Plymouth residents improve the energy efficiency of their home, help lower their energy bills, and help shrink their carbon footprint.

Each week will have a focus on different energy efficiency solutions including low carbon technology, retrofitting, and the financial support that is available to households. Customers will be able to learn and engage through weekly interactive sessions and Q&A panels made up of speakers from British Gas, Barclays and others, including Citizens Advice.

To coincide with National Green Careers Week between 6th and 11th of November, the skills launchpad team within Plymouth City Council, will also provide a series of carbon literacy events for career changers, job seekers and schools in the Barclays branch. In the same week, customers will have the opportunity to take part in a ‘green careers fair’ to understand what a net zero career at British Gas could look like for them.

Earlier this year, British Gas and Barclays announced a partnership to help customers live more sustainably. Research from British Gas revealed that 51 per cent of homeowners said higher energy prices made them more likely to install energy efficiency products in the next 12 months.

Rosie Buckley, Regional Director, South West at British Gas, said: “We’re on a mission to help households reduce their carbon emissions and save on their energy bills. In a time where people are being cautious with their spending, we want to make sure we’re offering as much advice as possible – with the right products and services available for those who are able to make changes around the home.

“Our trusted network of energy experts are helping homeowners across Plymouth with insights on how to manage their energy consumption and are already installing solutions such as heat pumps and solar panels for customers every day.”

Nick Stace, Head of Sustainability at Barclays UK, added: “Through our partnership with British Gas, we are committed to helping customers explore ways tosave energy, save money and reduce their carbon footprint.”

“Energy efficiency is a universal benefit, so this exhibition is a great opportunity for all Plymouth residents, whether they’re considering a larger investment, such as a heat pump or solar panels, or smaller changes, such as switching to LED lightbulbs or plugging drafts.”
