Daniel Silver, a former patient, has raised £1,042.93, which he has kindly donated to the Oncology Department at Derriford Hospital. In 2009, Daniel was diagnosed with testicular cancer and underwent surgery and chemotherapy.

Since then, he has made a remarkable recovery and has now been formally discharged from follow up, as he is now five years cancer free. After organising and completing an 8k race around Saltram House and organising a masquerade ball at the New Continental Hotel to raise money, Daniel does everything he can to raise awareness of testicular cancer.

Anna Wilson, Uro-Oncology Nurse Specialist said: “We would like to thank Dan for this extremely generous donation to the Oncology Department.

He is a remarkable person and has used his own personal experience to try and raise awareness of testicular cancer by attending health and wellbeing events with myself to lend a patients perspective of self-examination and cancer diagnosis and treatment.”

Daniel said: “If there was one place that I could make a donation to, it would be here at the Oncology Department at Derriford Hospital.

I am so grateful for everything that they have done for me, I owe my entire life to them and they will always have a special place in my heart.

“I will continue fundraising every year, as it gives me something to work for and I will try my best to create as much awareness as possible for prostate cancer.”
