KPMG UK’s Plymouth office is pleased to announce that it will be supporting Promoting Children in Plymouth (PCiP) as its local charity partner.

The partnership will allow staff to take part in activities, such as a sponsored half marathon and reading for children via a virtual platform, with the aim of supporting children in the area to achieve their true potential.

In March, colleagues took part in a story telling activity which was aimed at improving literacy - volunteer story tellers from different backgrounds took the time to visit schools across Plymouth and read ‘The adventures of scout and the missing bees’.

Promoting Children in Plymouth spearheads Plymouth Drake Foundation’s specific mission to eradicate the social injustice, ill-health and misery caused by child poverty in Plymouth. It brings together the public, private and third sectors to ensure that, as a city acting in unison, we remain dedicated to making a difference throughout a young person’s early life.

Andrew Gordon, Managing Director at KPMG UK’s Plymouth office, said: “We’re excited to be supporting PCiP as our charity partner. At KPMG we’re committed to creating a fairer society and we know the key role that businesses play in improving social mobility. As well as fundraising, our colleagues are looking forward to taking part in activities that can add longer term value such as financial education pilots and welcoming some of the children being supported by the charity to our offices where they can get an insight into what working in an accounting firm looks like.

Plymouth Drake Foundation Chair, Maurice West "It is great to be able to welcome KPMG on board as a new long-term partner, supporting us and working with us to inspire young people, helping them to reach their potential and raising their aspirations by raising their awareness of the opportunities that are available to them in Plymouth."

Kerry Bidewell, Development Manager at Plymouth Children in Poverty, added: "We welcome and celebrate this new and long-term partnership.  The KPMG, Plymouth team has already shown their huge commitment to breaking the cycle of generational poverty, experienced by thousands of children in the City of Plymouth.  Not only fundraising but equally as precious, the donation of their time. I thank the team for their commitment and high energy engagement."
