South West full fibre broadband company, Jurassic Fibre, today announced the extension of their network to Barnstaple, Wellington, West Hill and Marsh Green.

The roll-out to Barnstaple, Wellington, West Hill and Marsh Green is the latest development in the company’s ambitious plans to deploy ultrafast fibre-to-the-premises broadband to 350,000 households and businesses, across the region, over the next 4 years.

Jurassic Fibre is already servicing 20,000 premises in East Devon. Construction has also started in Yeovil and Taunton, where the first homes to be completed are expected to be released to service to residents and businesses by early next year.

Michael Maltby, CEO and Founder at Jurassic Fibre, says: “Our broadband roll-out in the South West has gathered pace this year, as evidenced by our plans to deliver state of the art broadband to 4 more areas. In little more than a year, our network now extends over 100km from Barnstaple in North Devon through the towns and villages of East Devon to Yeovil in South Somerset.

“The events of 2020 have emphasised the importance of digital connectivity, for homes and businesses, with fast and reliable broadband now needed more than ever for remote working, home-schooling and connecting with others.

“By rapidly expanding our network, to areas across Devon and Somerset, we aim to support the vitality and growth of the region’s economy; enabling rural areas to become viable alternatives to the big cities.”

Jurassic Fibre has grown rapidly in the last year. With a £250 million investment, it has recruited over 175 staff from Devon and Somerset to ensure that it can roll-out its network, ahead of the Government’s 2026 target for full fibre broadband to be universally available across the UK.

Jurassic Fibre also takes an innovative approach to sales, offering a 30-day rolling contract and allowing customers to upgrade or downgrade their package at any time. Residential offerings range from 30Mbps to 950Mbps.  Business offerings include direct internet access solutions with speeds up to 10Gbps.

Councillor Jess Bailey, East Devon District Councillor for West Hill and Aylesbeare, has commented: "I have for some time been concerned about the speed and reliability of broadband in West Hill. My concern has been heightened by Covid 19 and the increased reliance on broadband for work and education purposes”.

“I am pleased that Jurassic are intending to extend their network to West Hill, as this will allow residents and businesses the opportunity to subscribe to a fibre-to-the-premises service with the enhanced digital connectivity this entails".
