Motor-mad enthusiasts and military buffs are under orders to get to the Mount Edgcumbe this Bank Holiday weekend.

The estate will be taking a drive back in time with historic military vehicles on display in the park on 24, 25 and 26 August (Saturday, Sunday and Monday).

The vehicles, which range from World War II jeeps to 1970s armoured trucks, have been carefully restored by members of the Military Vehicles Trust, who rescue military vehicles from the scrapheap.

You can see the military movers on show at Barn Pool over the three days and they will be going on reconnaissance around the park in a convoy, which is quite an impressive sight.

No stranger to military vehicles, Barn Pool saw elements of the US Army 29th Infantry Division depart to take part in Operation Overlord the start of the liberation of Europe in World War II.

The event is free and members of the Military Vehicle Trust will be on hand to discuss their vehicles and reminisce about times gone by.

Mount Edgcumbe House & Country Park is jointly owned and managed by Plymouth City Council and Cornwall Council. The park and gardens are open seven days a week and the house is open Sunday to Thursday 11am to 4.30pm, 31 March to 25 September 2013.
