If your garden is blooming and you want to show off your green-fingered efforts then this is your final chance to enter Plymouth in Bloom 2013.

The closing date for entries, Friday 5 July, is looming and time is running out to enter. There are lots of categories including best garden, container display, business, school, community groups and best kept street.

Councillor Brian Vincent, Cabinet Member for Environment said: “We want everyone who lives and works in Plymouth to have a city they can be proud of. The Plymouth in Bloom competition encourages people to improve the image of their outdoor environment. There are plenty of opportunities for people to get involved at home, at work, in community groups and allotments and in schools.

“There are some beautifully presented areas of the city and we also have the Best Kept Street award which is a great way for communities to show off their hard work.”

Local volunteer judges will tour the city during the summer to judge the displays and projects. All winners will be invited to the annual awards presentation evening, where the Lord Mayor will present the awards and prizes.

The competition is run by Plymouth City Council’s Street Scene team and has an elected committee to give the community more input and control of the campaign.

Bernard Todkill, Chairman, Plymouth in Bloom committee said: “We are enthusiastic volunteers who are working hard to build on the success of the In Bloom campaign for the benefit of our city and its residents. We’d like to see anyone with an interest in creating beautiful displays and gardens enter the competition.”

The closing date for entries is 5 July 2013. For further details go to www.plymouth.gov.uk/bloom
